The Addressing Office assigns, changes, and verifies addresses within Scottsville and Allen County. The Addressing Office is a collaboration of GIS (Geographic Information Services) and Enhanced 9-1-1 staff. The Addressing Office maintains and disseminates information which is used in support of the 911 Emergency System. Additionally, this data is used by the US Postal Service for mail delivery, the Property Valuation Administration for the maintenance of parcel information, as well as other service providers such as City Water and Gas, Allen County Water District, NCTC and Tri-County Electrical Coop and many others.
The Addressing Office is involved in the City planning and development process (Development Plans or Amendments and Recording Plats) and will review plans, assign addresses and street names as a condition of plan approval. The permitting process for Building Inspection also provides for an addressing sign-off as a condition of approval for new construction or remodeling permit. Addressing for all condominium or apartment projects are required to be reviewed before a plat can be recorded.
The Building Inspection Office provides Single Family and Duplex housing inspection for the City of Scottsville. The application process must be initiated before construction begins on new homes, major remodeling and on garages and storage building over 1,200 square feet. This office is responsible for footer, framing and final inspections only. All construction will require additional inspections listed below. All commercial, industrial and multifamily housing inspection applicants should contact the Building Inspection Office but inspections will be performed by an outside contracted inspectors.
