The Dumont Hill Park will continue to expand and improve in 2012 and 2013 thanks to a Trails Grant recently awarded by the Kentucky Department for Local Government. With a matching grant from the Turner Foundation, improvements to signage, trail heads and parking will be undertaken. In addition to improvements such as drainage tiles, foot bridges and gravel base surfaces on the existing nature trail. The Historic trail a level 1/2 mile walk is surfaced and will have interpretive signage by spring 2013. The Creek trail has been cut, and will be graveled with creek crossing bridges in early 2013.
Dispite the loss of our cabin due to a fire, efforts by the Friends of Dumont Hill to improve the park will continue. Plans to replace the Cabin will be discussed at our upcoming meeting with hopes that we can rebuild in the near future.
The park is accessible through the YMCA Trail Head during daylight hours every day of the week. The main entrance off N. Bedilia Street is open from dusk to dawn, weather permitting. Come out and join us this year. Walking on the trail is great exercise and the views are wonderful. See the new Dumont Hill Park Page for Maps and trail information as well as walk challenges and other events. SEE YOU ON THE TRAIL
