Dumont Hill Park

The Dumont Hill Park will continue to expand and improve in 2011 thanks to a Trails Grant recently awarded by the Kentucky Department for Local Government. With a matching grant from the Turner Foundation, improvements to signage, trail heads and parking will be undertaken. In addition to improvements such as drainage tiles, foot bridges and gravel base surfaces on the existing nature trail, at least two new trails will be developed. Plans call for a historical trail based on the encampment site that will be less challenging than the current nature trail and will be on the top of the hill side. A second and more challenging trail option will be developed along the road frontage to create a cardiac pumping walk. An extension to the creek walk portion of the trail has been cut and the steep climb will add a challenge as well. The park is accessible through the YMCA Trail Head during daylight hours every day of the week. The main entrance off N. Bedilia Street is open from dusk to dawn, weather permitting. Come out and join us this year. Walking on the trail is great exercise and the views are wonderful. See the new Dumont Hill Park Page for Maps and trail information as well as walk challenges and other events.  SEE YOU ON THE TRAIL
